Introducing Pat! She's a longtime friend of Project Brownstone who lends her expertise and vision to the organization. Her worldview aligns well with the pathos that the organization is built on. It's about bringing all of our experiences under one roof and sharing it in the pursuit of enriching and empowering youth. Having the unique opportunity to travel the world as a model adds to the cache of experiences that makes up the reason for our existence.
I know Pat as a friend, a model, a photographer and my road dog. There is nothing that I can throw at her that she cannot help me with. Anything from running errands to bouncing ideas off of, she's there. Because we have somewhat similar backgrounds in fashion and travel, there's a connection that enables us to communicate about some of the esoteric ideas that we put forth for the organization. When you've been blessed enough to have the opportunity to work and see the world through eyes that many never get to, it's important to bring that back to your community with the goal to share and enrich. I always knew while I was out there traveling that there would be no point in it if I didn't have an opportunity to use it to uplift my community.
Branding is a big part of any organization. As a photographer, Pat lends us her eye to translate the vision making it palatable for the public. She spent six months traveling throughout Africa photographing and documenting the beauty of our people as well as the amazing landscapes that have long been forgotten due to the transatlantic slave trade. That connection through her photographs adds a certain extra purview into the souls of the people that support and are supported by Project Brownstone. Her photography goes much deeper than the two-dimensional photographs that record an event but fail to record the experience. Pat gets to the heart of WHY the event is necessary.
Pat documented our 1st Annual 'Making A Difference' Award Benefit in May 2014 at Faculty House at Columbia University. She zeroed in on the spirit of the event and captured some of the really special moments that made the event a great success. The photos further helped to cement the branding of Project Brownstone because now people have a clear idea and picture of what they can expect when they get involved with our organization. We are forever grateful for that. And grateful for Pat's valuable contribution! Thank you!
Here are some pictures from the event:
